About Partners Safety Management

Partners and subcontractors working for Ausgrid must first be registered in the Ausgrid Partners Safety Management System (APSMS) if requested to do so.

The online system underscores the Ausgrid commitment to the health, safety and wellbeing of everyone working for us. It allows Ausgrid and its partners and subcontractors to manage a shared duty of care and meet health and safety obligations.

Please note: you should only follow the compliance process if you have been requested to do so by Ausgrid.

Partners & Subcontractors

In the APSMS, partners will have their business details and required documents (including insurances and licences) uploaded to prove their compliance to work for Ausgrid.

Partners will also register and book their workers into inductions they must complete to work for Ausgrid. All workers must be able to present Ausgrid access ID card at site.

Subcontractors (who do not invoice Ausgrid directly) will register and book their workers into inductions they must complete to work for Ausgrid. All workers must be able to present Ausgrid access ID card at site.

The Ausgrid Partners Safety Management System process for partners and subcontractors is outlined below.

Am I a partner?

If your business provides services and invoices Ausgrid directly, or you work on multiple Ausgrid sites and invoice both directly and indirectly, you are a partner. Please follow the instructions below to register.

Am I a subcontractor?

If your business does not invoice Ausgrid directly, you are a subcontractor. Please follow the instructions below to register. Partners will only register workers directly employed by them.

STAGE 1: Business Registration (click to expand)

Step 1 > Create your supplier profile

Click here to create your supplier profile, username and password and get started.

If your business is already registered in Avetta, go to Step 2

Step 2 > Connect to Ausgrid

In the ‘Find Connections’ search field, type Ausgrid.

Add the Ausgrid External Partner site and select Next in the upper right-hand corner.

Step 3 > Service Evaluation

Enter your ABN (if applicable) and complete a quick service evaluation to identify the services your organisation provides.

Select Next in the upper right-hand corner once complete.

Step 4 > Checkout

The cost to join the program is based on the level of compliance required for your business and the type of services your company offers.

Enter your payment details and confirm your payment.

Please note that adding additional clients in the Avetta system may increase your annual membership cost. Any increase will be generated and charged via future invoices.

Step 5 > Ausgrid Prequalification

Select the Network button in the left-hand menu and get started on the prequalification requirements for Ausgrid. These may include, but not be limited to:

    • Company information and locations
    • Safety information
    • Insurances
    • Licences

Insurances and licenses will be verified by the Avetta team, who will reach out should any corrections be required.

Step 6 > Manual Audit / SMS Review (if required)

Depending on the work your organisation performs (as identified in Step 3), you may be required to complete a SMS review (Manual Audit), which is an independent desktop audit of your Work Health and Safety documents by a qualified WHS professional. The documents you’ll be asked to provide may include, but are not limited to:

    • WHS Policy
    • Safety Management System
    • Safe Work Method Statements/JSA/Safe Work Procedures
    • Risk Register
    • Training Matrices/Training Needs Analysis

Once complete, select Submit in the top-right corner.

Your manual audit assessment questions and submitted documents will be audited within ten business days of submission. If corrective actions are required for you to meet compliance, you’ll receive an email from our auditors.
You must complete all prequalification requirements for Ausgrid before your company will be considered compliant.

To reach full compliance to work for Ausgrid, you must next register your workers.

Please note: Subcontractors will not be required to upload any supporting documentation.

STAGE 2: Worker Registration (click to expand)

Step 1 > Login and add workers

From the Connect system, select the Workers tile in the left-hand menu, then select Pegasus Workforce.

If you don’t immediately see the Ausgrid tile, click on the Add or Remove Portals and select the Ausgrid tile.

Select Manage Roles and then Add New Employee. From here you will upload a photo of your worker and enter their personal contact details, address, phone and email. If a worker is already a registered cardholder, you may proceed to Step 3 to select their site and role.

Step 2 > Pay for worker registration and contractor card

Pay for your worker’s registration and order their access ID cards to work for Ausgrid.

    • Worker registration costs $140 + GST per person for profile verification and the supply of a plastic access ID card and e-card, with renewal costing $100 + GST annually from year two.
    • Replacement cards are $30 + GST.

A tax invoice will be supplied on payment.

Step 3 > Select roles

Continuing through the worker’s profile, the next step is to Add New Role. Here you will book their online induction, and they will be emailed a link and login details.

You can also book any required classroom inductions from the calendar of available dates and locations.

Pegasus will validate your worker’s profile, and once they successfully complete their online induction, their role will be applied to their profile. At this time, their plastic access ID card will be printed and sent, and their e-card sent to their nominated mobile number.

It’s important that you keep worker’s details up to date. You can login at any time to update your account or their profiles. During registration, you may also elect to invite your worker to the Worker Portal, allowing them to maintain their own profile to work for Ausgrid.

Step 4 > Pegasus validates profile and applies roles

Pegasus will validate your worker’s profile, and once they successfully complete their online induction, their role will be applied to their profile. At this time, their plastic access ID card will be printed and sent, and their e-card sent to their nominated mobile number.

It’s important that you keep worker’s details up to date. You can login at any time to update your account or their profiles. During registration, you may also elect to invite your worker to the Worker Portal, allowing them to maintain their own profile to work for Ausgrid.

3rd Party Providers

The Ausgrid Partners Safety Management System process for 3rd Party Providers is outlined below.

Am I a 3rd Party Provider?

Where companies need access to Ausgrid delivered training you can register as a 3rd Party Provider. 3rd Party Providers are not contractors or subcontractors.

3rd Party Providers include Registered Training Organisations and Field Recording companies not associated with an Ausgrid Partner.

Step 1 > Create a user name and password to register your workers

The Ausgrid Role Management Portal (where you register workers) will be found by clicking the button below:

– Start by selecting the country your business operates in, and then search for your ABN

– Enter contact details, including email and business address and phone number

– Select Request Registration to have the business registration verified. You will be emailed login details.

Already have an account? Click Back to login above Business Details Registration.

The next steps are to add your workers to ensure their compliance to work for Ausgrid.

Step 2 >Add workers

Select Manage Roles and then Add New Employee. From here you will upload a photo of your worker and enter their personal contact details, address, phone and email. If a worker is already a registered cardholder, you may proceed to Step 4 to select their site and role.

Step 3 > Pay for worker registration and contractor card

Pay for your worker’s registration and order their access ID cards to work for Ausgrid.

Worker registration costs $125 + GST per person for profile verification and the supply of a plastic access ID card and e-card, with renewal costing $90 + GST annually from year two.

Replacement cards are $30 + GST.

A tax invoice will be supplied on payment.

Step 4 > Select roles

Continuing through the worker’s profile, the next step is to Add New Role. Here you will book their online induction, and they will be emailed a link and login details.

You can also book any required classroom inductions from the calendar of available dates and locations.

Pegasus will validate your worker’s profile, and once they successfully complete their online induction, their role will be applied to their profile. At this time, their plastic access ID card will be printed and sent, and their e-card sent to their nominated mobile number.

Accredited Service Providers (ASPs)

The Ausgrid ASP Authorisation Management System process for Accredited Service Providers (ASPs) is outlined below.

Am I an ASP?

To undertake contestable work within Ausgrid’s network, you need to be an Accredited Service Provider (ASP). Contestable work is any work to design, construct or install assets that connect a customer’s installation to the Ausgrid electricity network, including work on or near the network.

Prior to applying for ASP authorisation with Ausgrid, you need to first become accredited under the ASP Scheme. Refer to the ASP Accreditation Scheme website for information about how to become an Accredited Service Provider.

Please note: The authorisation of Level 3 ASPs is not currently managed through the Avetta System.

If your business provides services directly to Ausgrid, for works that are not customer funded contestable work, you are a partner or subcontractor. Refer to the links below for more information:

ASP Authorisation fees

ASP authorisation services provided by Ausgrid are an Alternative Control Service. The allowable fees applicable to these services are approved by the Australian Energy Regulator and are detailed in Ausgrid’s Connection Charges and Ausgrid’s ‘Connection Policy’.

The fees detailed in the Alternative control services fee schedule have been revised for the ASP Authorisation Management System and are detailed in Table 1 below. These fees are current as of 1 July 2024.*

Ausgrid Training

Ausgrid’s training group provides Ausgrid-specific training for Accredited Service Providers (ASPs).

Training services provided by Ausgrid are an Alternative Control Service. The allowable fees applicable to these services are approved by the Australian Energy Regulator and are detailed in Ausgrid’s Connection Charges and Ausgrid’s ‘Connection Policy’.

Step 5 > Ausgrid Prequalification

    • Professional Indemnity Insurance (Level 1 ASPs only)
    • Bank Guarantee (Level 1 ASPs only)
    • Department of Planning and Environment Company Accreditation Letter

Documentation will be verified by the Avetta team, who will reach out should any corrections be required.

Step 6 > Attend company authorisation meeting

If you are applying for an initial ASP company authorisation, you must attend an in-person meeting with Ausgrid.

This meeting will provide your company with information for working safely on or near Ausgrid’s network, Ausgrid procedures and processes relevant to your work, and allow you to ask questions regarding ASP authorisation and compliance.

You must complete all prequalification requirements for Ausgrid before your company will be considered compliant.

To reach full compliance to work as an Ausgrid ASP, you must next register your workers.

Only select roles the ASP company and worker are accredited for by the NSW Department of Planning and Environment, which match their accreditation documentation.

Workers are required to complete online ASP Authorisation information session, and they will be emailed a link and login details.

You can also book any required classroom inductions from the calendar of available dates and locations.

Pegasus will validate your worker’s profile, and once they successfully complete their online induction, their role will be applied to their profile. At this time, their plastic access ID card will be printed and sent, and their e-card sent to their nominated mobile number.
